Yeah, they use a TON of numbers. I'd either change your number or screen your calls from "Blocked", "Uknown" and any number you don't recognize. They're relentless and will not stop calling. I'm still waiting on a summons that's never going to show up. If I actually get one, I can't wait to meet them in a court room in front of a judge to show all the proof I have of them breaking a handful of federal laws and violating my rights and will counter sue the hell out of them. Remember, record all your calls and voicemails and save everything you get in the mail. Refer to the FDCPA for a breakdown of your rights.
I have received this automated call atleast three times. Once saying a check has been returned. This time saying an item has been returned. It is always to my cell phone. I thought it was suspicious.
I called via Skype today and I asked to speak with Elizabeth Childs. He said she was the receptionist but that he could help me. He asked what my number was and I told him I didn't know because I use temporary phones. He read back a number to me that I assume was the Skype number but he said it wasn't in his database. He asked for my name instead and I told him it was "Little Joe Cortez" (that's the name on the message they left). He asked if the last 4 digits of my social security was "5318" and I said yes. He said something to the effect of "Woah, your account's been red flagged and we can't handle your account", something about getting this taken care of before I get issued a warrant for my arrest; mentioned grand larceny, too. He proceeded to give me the number of the "National Check Fraud Center" at 218-600-1300 and said I should call them. I told him I didn't want to follow through with it and he said "That's fine, but this message is being recorded and I need to forward this information to them."
So I just called that number that he provided me (218-600-1300) and tried to explain my story to her. After some back and forth, in the end, she said I was being fraudulent for pretending to be "Little Joe Cortez" and that she was going to report me. I asked her how she was going to do that and she hung up on me.
