I experienced the same thing on 2/27/2012. I did not believe the caller named "Investigator Steve Foster" was legitimate. Thanks to the resources and comments of this online community, confirms what I thought was a scam. Legal situations and cases are not handled by telephone contact. Any judgement or legal filings against you is all filed in the court of law. Such a shame how scammers try to suck the life out of others. Get a life!
I received the same message as the above posters..special investigator, calling my relatives over and over again and I think it's always a different number they want you to call...someone filed a complaint, etc? Complaints are not filed over the phone, first of all, this I'm sure of...it would be sent to you in the mail, and they wouldnt have to look for my information to serve it to me. If there were a true warrant or complaint filed, then it definitely would not be served over the phone.
Yep, received the same call from these clowns today. In fact they called my mother's house and said something about a restraining order against me. She was scared to death and thought that I had committed a crime against someone. Really Now....
I called these fools back and got some rude heifer who thought she had it going on and had some damn authority (her "name" was Miss Thompson). I told her to shut up and that I was getting some attorneys involved. I played their game and called back and asked to speak with her after our initial conversation and one of her playmates said that she stepped out. Yeah right. I am thinking about calling them again and harrassing them for a few days straight just like they have done to us.
I have also turned them over to the North Carolina FBI and the National FBI and the Texas Attorney Generals Office. Just sick of this type of stuff.
Got similar call just now. Asked "Melissa Cole" to give me her supervisor, or her supervisor's name. Wouldn't do that. I asked for her company address, she couldn't do that of course. Another scam. Company does not exist. I called the number (704) 464-0168, nice legit sounding on hold msg, no one answered so I hung up.
Just another scammer trying to extort money for some bogus debt or fine. If someone is trying to "serve" you, they wouldn't call you first. I think they just learned a new word, and have no idea what a "restraining order" really is.
