got a call from "jenny"--same MO as many here have said...jenny said she was returning my call about my computer, and yes, (duh), she had a east indian accent. I told her i hadn't called anybody, then I invited her over and said i wanted to shove my (not broken) computer where it would be permanently protected from harmful direct sunlight....she didn't understand what i was saying...dangit.
Called three times today, was on phone first two times. Left voice mail, but the first time it was "Hello?.... Hello?... " and the second time only a short silence. This boiler room operates off a cell phone number from Verizon Wireless Mobile in Napa, CA.
The last time, I talked to the guy for some time, but when he said that we "need to get them into my computer" to help, I unwisely said that this would expose me to identity theft and he abruptly hung up. If you take the time to do this, get the URL of the web site and report it through WOT, SpamHaus, or other reputable organization.
Claims to be Microsoft Tech... Told me my computer was going to black listed. I said what this is not Microsoft support. The guys proceed to yell at me that he was with Microsoft and my will be blacklisted if I do not do as he says. I laughed at him and said I know this is a scam nice try. He hung up
I asked why they called my home number about a computer at my office. No answer of course. Asked the man with the strong Indian or Pakastanii accent to phone the number under which the computer is registered and leave a message for the system administrator.
Just got called in Va. I did not answer and there was no message left on VM . Guess it was Microsoft , but I only use Apple iPad or Google Chromebook . I hate these scammers.
Called my DNC registered landline. No voicemail.
According to my service provider's call log, the call was from Russia. Yesterday I got a call from (701) 401-4712 that was also marked from Russia. There's a lot of spoofing going on. I didn't answer either call so I can't say what they were up to.
