They are counting on the victim's ignorance on how the legal system works. You would be surprised to find out how many people actually believe you can be arrested for being in ordinary civil debt.
Or that debt collectors have influence on public prosecutors.
Many people believe, apparently that the IRS can order local police to carry out tax policy, or that you can be arrested for errors on your taxes.
Many people simply believe whatever some cold calling scammer tells them.
General ignorance of the basics of the legal system and US tax system, work to the benefit of scammers.
Received call from the 7147565870. Did a reverse phone lookup. Said from Anaheim, Ca, Buena Park, Ca area private number. Did give service provider name but on 2 sites gave different names of provider and one said wireless caller other said land line. It was a robot call woman voice saying there was a legal suit against me and would see me in coirt. Since I see the other posts listed here, it obviously is some sort of scam but my question is why. What is point of making stupid calls like this. It serves no purpose.
I received a call saying that I was a suspect in a crime and needed to call back. Thank God I googled it and it's pretty much just a scam. I eventually blocked the number.
Received a robo-call with a message for me to call back 714-576-5870 - I called back. Its a fake law firm. They hung up on me once I started asking questions.
