I got an "arrest" call today. So. . I posted their number on all my social media, and we blew up their phones for hours, hundreds of people calling. They finally stopped answering.
On March 28, 2014, at 3:30 p.m., I received a call from the 707-200-4371 number from the list above. A woman's voice sounding like it had been recorded told me there was a case against me, I would be arrested at my home or work place, left this number to call, then smugly said: 'See you at the court house'. Called the number back but couldn't make out the name of the law office a heavily accented (Mexican I think) man gave the name of John Marsh as best I could make out. When I avoided providing him with any further personal information he said I was WASTING his time and hung up on me. Boy is he gonna be sorry he did that. My father always kept the FTC and other pertinent numbers on speed dial, taught me to document everything so I'm about to report these guys with great pleasure and hope they rot in jail for a very long time. I won't hesitate to pursue them and further harass them as they are trying to do to me. Jerks.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
