Ignore.. Read the other posts. This is a scam originating in India. Been around for a while. IRS never initiates contact by phone. Your best bet is to get a call blocker. Also, don't pick up on calls you do not recognize.
Just got a call..voice.mail left saying officer Darrick.Foster/Fostner...saying call back immediately...sounded suspicious...good.thing I reviewed here...before falling for it...
How and.to.whom.do.we report.these?
This is a total scam. I have had more than three calls over the past couple days. Had one earlier today and the caller id said "Test" and another from 650 area code. The IRS addition was new; the others said they were an officer of the magistrate or something like that. Be sure not to call back it is possible they want to validate its an active number so they can make fraud calls from your line. I work in this industry and it is amazing what they can do.
After reviewing all of these messages, I checked with the IRS. There is a section of the IRS website www.irs.gov that lists fraudulant scam events. Darrick Foster was also the name left on my cell phone. I registered a complaint with the IRS and they referred me to the Federal Trade Commission. I also filed a complaint with them. i was going to call the number back and tell the moron to get a real job and stop trying to steal from decent hard-working people but of course the phone number is a non-working number!!
Said they were the irs asked to speak to my husband when I asked what it was on regards to he said I told you to have him call I replied on his wife if this is the irs you can speak to me. He said he would make me a deal he would give me the information if I slept with him one night. I informed him I would be reporting the number
A man, left a message on my answering machine stating that he was an officer with the IRS and that I needed to call him back immediately. I think he said his name was Mike. He never said the name of the person he was requesting to speak with or what it was regarding. He just said in a stern, strong, official sounding voice that he was from the IRS and that I needed to call him back immediately, and that I should not ignore his call.
This is clearly a scam; possibly a debt collector looking for someone who used to have my number. Or perhaps he is trying to steal peoples money by pretending to be an IRS officer, so people with give him their banking information and other personal information, etc. If the IRS wants to speak with you, they will send you a letter, which will include information that can be verified to ensure that it is really the IRS wanting to speak with you.
Hang up on this person; or better yet, do not pick up these calls. Report this jerk and his fraud scam to the IRS and Attorney General's Office.
