Ignore.. Read the other posts. This is a scam originating in India. Been around for a while. IRS never initiates contact by phone. Your best bet is to get a call blocker. Also, don't pick up on calls you do not recognize.
IRS never Initiates contact by hone. Always by US Mail. IRS has no authority over local police. Local police are never involved in IRS disputes. Any fraud is handled by US attorney. 95% of all IRS tax disputes are settled through negotiation. IRS disputes are civil matters in most cases. Liens and assets seizures are rare and only occur after long periods of attempts at negotiated settlement. Never give you financial information over the phone to anyone.
This whole thing is a scam initiated in India. The calls are not random. They have all your financial information and a lot of personal information. The pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community. Just hang up if you get a call like that.

Got a call from officer Barry foster. Same as the others. The IRS doesn't threaten you with jail. This is a huge scam. Don't answer. And don't be afraid of it. It is more funny and sad than something to take seriously.
I received a call from the same number today. I'm an attorney and the IRS would NEVER make a call like this. A lot of what he said wasn't even coherent. Here is what it said on my voicemail:
I need you to your retain attorney of rackets to return the call the issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My name is Officer Patrick Foster and hotline to my division is (716) 249-2223. I repeat my number is (716) 249-2223. Now do not try to disregard this message and return the call. If you do not return the call and I do not see your from your attorney either then the only thing I can do was wish you a good luck as the situation badly unfolds on you so give me a call back as soon as you get this message. Thank you.
