just got a call from the 716-923-7405 number. The lady was very polite but did not identify herself. Stated someone with my last name had used me as a reference. I didnt know the person. She gave me the name of his business. What she didnt know is I live in a "one horse" town and I know all the businesses. This one doesnt exist. She was still polite and stated she would have to call the guy back to confirm.
I agree, and i have done just that. I have contacted the state bar in NY and i will be making it a mission in my life to find out everything i can about this company. The # 716-923-7405 is for Adelphia Business Solutions out of New York. Research them as well.
Here's some advice. Stop posting on message boards about how said collection agency took you to court, etc. It's transparent. How stupid do you think people are, anyway?
Received a call from this number tonight requesting info on someone with the possible name of my kin. She also indentified herself with the law office of Hoffman, etc., She said it was concerning a civil case in our local county.
She also quoted other names that were an ex sister in law and her current husband that I have had no contact with in over 20 years, also the exwife (of 8 years) of a nephew, and another name that I have never heard of. I asked for more info and she stated that it was private. I then replied that my information was private also and hung up. While I was hanging up she made the threat of my getting a summons. She immediately called back and asked me how I would like to be summonsed to talk to the judge, and I stated "when I get the summons I will talk with the judge face to face" and hung up again.
I am glad I was as "private" with my info as she was. I never even acknowledged who I was!
Now after reading the above posts, I know I did the right thing.

They would not give me their street address when I requested it. Said it was a policy that they do not do that because they are a litigation law firm. That I don't understand. Something is not right. I don't know how a debt with one firm before them goes from $1441 to over $5000 when the get it less then a month later. I guess I will just have to wait for the court papers.
