just got a call from the 716-923-7405 number. The lady was very polite but did not identify herself. Stated someone with my last name had used me as a reference. I didnt know the person. She gave me the name of his business. What she didnt know is I live in a "one horse" town and I know all the businesses. This one doesnt exist. She was still polite and stated she would have to call the guy back to confirm.
i think a few more cases like this and the problem will go away

The same thing happened to my elderly mother. They asked to speak to my brother who no longer lives with her. When she said she doesn't know where he is, they have repeatedly threatened to "send the sheriff out to serve a summons on her" for "withholding evidence". Very upsetting to her. The woman gave her the name of Amy Mullens.
They're gonna serve me with a summons.....well go ahead.....Do people usually call you to tell you this?? NO, they just do it. They are a GLORIFIED collection agency claiming to be lawyers. It's a shame, this should be illegal to get family members worried.
I have received multiple calls from this number on both my home and cell phones. During one phone call I received on May 19th 2007, I got the impression that it was about an old credit-card debt that was in my name, but my ex-husband's debt. The lady said she was a legal assistant for a law office, Hoffman Weinberg & O'Brien. I have never spoken with anyone so belligerent and rude in my life! She went on about how I was defrauding the company (Wells Fargo) and they were going to sue me on behalf of their client, etc. etc. I hung up and I never heard anything more after that.
Then, on Friday (9/14/07) I received messages from Lisa Muscarella (sp?), again stating that she was a legal assistant, regarding a summons for my appearance in court. She didn't make any mention of what the summons was for. She said that she would need a call back from me by today, Monday, (9/17/07) or she would "sign off" on the summons. I returned her call back in less than one hour, but only got her voicemail. I left a message, but have yet to hear back.
What seems odd to me is that I have NEVER received any written communication from this company, yet they're taking me to court?!? (Incidentally, the debt I believe this is regarding is past it's SOL in my state.)The phone number I have for them is 1-866-450-5702.
I thought anyone reading this might be interested in knowing that I just received another phone call from Lisa Muscarella. She described the account (a charged off credit card)that was past due. She even had the charge-off dates correct in her file; which definitely puts this debt past the SOL. I told her I needed to see validation of the debt. She told me that she would be happy to send me a letter of validation, "of course that's not a problem." However, she insisted that I let her know whether or not I would be able to take care of the full amount when I got the letter of validation. When I persistently told her that I would look at the validation and go from there, she flat out refused to send it to me!!! She said that I was stalling and they already sent it (which of course they didn't)and they didn't need to send out another one and the only letter she was willing to send out was a settlement offer. I told her that she could not refuse to send out a validation letter and she told me basically, "Have a good day," hung up the phone. Wow!
