This IS a fraudulent call. No legitimate company can ask for your SSN over the phone!
The caller ID was just COPA_HRBG_PHEAA. This is NOT a legitimate ID! It is faked by a scammer that just wants to steal your personal info. Wake up and report calls like this to both the FTC and your local phone company.
I have been receiving numerous calls from this phone number. If there are any more I will file a complaint with my General Attorney. You are harassing me.
People make me laugh...You all know very well that you went to school, and you all know very well that you took out student loans. Your all well aware of the fact that if you do not pay back your student loans you can and will have your wages garnished, your income taxes seized, you will get an I9 credit rating (which is the worst ever)...It is not illegal to ask people for their social over the phone, you have options available to you to have your account pulled up so we can help you service your account. If you do not want to use your social give us your account #, we can look it up with your full name as well. There are many options...Keep thinking it is a scam and you will find out the hard way, when you have your wages garnished, you cannot hide from the Federal Government, they want their money one way or another...
We can ask for your SS # but you don't have to provide it...You can provide an account #...When your loans default you have no one to blame but yourself ;)
File the complaint...They will tell you it is a call in regards to your student loan account and if it is a wrong # all you have to do is answer the phone and politely let them know this so that the # can be removed...Simple as that.
