I got 1 call this morning at 8:38am, 1 call at 9:09am, then another call at 6:02pm, no messages. I have no idea who it is as they didn't leave a message. No legit company make weird calls like this lol.
1 DON'T PANIC they called our home 4 time's this morning it is a collection agency number for Con Ed.
2. HANG UP call your phone and call your telephone company they will tell you how to start a call trace for this number after four (4) calls in a 24 hour period this becomes harressment and a report is issused (at your request)to your local police dept which must be investigated by law.
3. ALSO found out this (let's keep it real) they can tell you "we are sending someone out to turn off your service if you do not pay today
NOT TRUE!!!
THEY (CONED )must take you to court where you must appear and, a judge must render a verdict for this to happen
also if you get to the point of shut off a coned employee must come to your house with a court officer( a us marshall )and or a police officer and they all must show ID and before you let them into your home they must allow you the right to call and verfiy said order as well as their ID 's as emplyees of said organization.
Perhaps you work for this unlawful organization if i were you i would find a new job as they will be closed down very soon because of the way the violate the law
Also you do not have to speak with any 3rd party collection agencies
(even if they tell you they are coned)you can always hang up and :
1. call con ed yourself this way you know who your speaking with. (VERY GOOD IDEA NOW DAY'S)
2. If you choose to talk with a collection agency they must.
2a give you the mailing address of the company that they work for
(not po box mailing address)
2b. must verify the collection debt
(in writing NOT VERBAL this is the law IN NEWYORK STATE)
2c and must give you a call in id number or referance number for the call as well as employee or telephone rep id number so that the call can be traced
2d.also these call's are recorded automaticly by a predictive dialier system so there should always ALWAYS be a recording of the conversation that you have with the representative and you have a right to hear the call anytime that you ask
if they cannot produce a call for you hang up and call CONED
KEEP IN MIND YOU CAN RECORD THEM AS WELL WITHOUT TELLING THEM THAT IS LEGAL BECAUSE THEY HAVE CALLED YOU!!!
