They claim to be from Microsoft tech support, and always start their message with "for 2 weeks we've received notifications from your computer that there's a bug blah blah blah". Long story short, I've researched them and they call from different numbers - they try and "fix" something on your computer but make you connect to a site (showmycomputer.com)that actually displays your computer to them so they can access it and erase everything and then offer you something to fix it/steal your info. Anyway it's scary. And as soon as you tell them you know they're not legit or you ask any suspicious questions, they hang up on you. They have no moral compass whatsoever. They call me monthly from different numbers.
My wife got a call from them. They claimed to be from Microsoft and that her computer had a virus. She told them the computer belonged to me and provided them with my number (wish she hadn't), they called me and I was in a meeting and of course they did not leave a voicemail. My wife called me to let me know about it so I called the number and got a message indicating that the number was no longer in service.
I received the same call from this individual and or company. Please don't give them any information what so ever. Do not put your trust in this company its someone trying hack and gain important information from your electronics. Again do not trust this company and or individual.
Got a call on 5/15/2015 from 718-513-1436, caller ID says Brooklyn, NY. I agree with the posts above. A rep from "Microsoft" with a deep foreign accent called (from a call center) stating that my computer had downloaded a virus, etc. It was a very strange call so i told him to call back tomorrow. After reading these posts, if this scammer calls back again I will tell him I have an Apple computer and then proceed to start violently yelling at him.
I also had a missed on 5/14/2015 from 571-916-7066, Caller ID: Virginia. Seems to be the same scam.
Same as above. I have hung up on them twice in two days. I will block the number now. They had my name, which creeped me out even more. I use a computer given to me by my job so I would return it to them if I needed something fixed.
