Telemarketers for Foundation American Veterans
by: Anonymous
Associated Community Services (ACS) is a telemarketing firm based in Southfield, Michigan which reportedly filed for bankruptcy & owes more than $15 million in unpaid taxes to the IRS and more than $1 million in unpaid state tax. ACS is owned & operated by Robert W. Burland, Jr. and Richard T. Cole.
ACS has been cited by the Michigan Atty General as being in violation of numerous laws and ACS retains up to 90% of funds received for telemarketing services on behalf numerous charities, including the Foundation for American Veterans. ACS badgers it’s victims repeatedly at all hours with high pressure tactics.
The owners are con artists and should be held account for their activities. I urge you to contact the owners and give them a dose of their own medicine. I’m sure they will be happy to hear from you at any time of the day.:-)
The reason they abruptly hang up when you respond in the negative or ask a question is because it is a bot. When it called me it said "Bob?" (not my real name). I said "uh, yes...", there was a long pause and then it started into an obviously pre-recorded message. If you don't respond to "Name?" or "Is this the lady/man of the house?" in the affirmative (by saying no or by asking who is calling, etc.) then it just hangs up.
these people call my house at least 3 to 4 times a day. I answer, hang up. I never talk to them, there not getting the hint. Calling from 720-403-9498.
Received two call from them. Didn't answer either as I wasn't at home. One call came from the 720-403-9498 number, and another from 720-372-1600. Both showed caller ID of FAV.
When you do have some extra that you want to use to help others, be sure to check them on https://www.charitywatch.org/top-rated-charities - if they aren't there, I don't answer their calls. Too many frauds out there. My wife and I pick four charities to help each year (usually the same ones) by category: Veterans, Children, Homeless, Local Soup Kitchen - this works well for us.
