Called @ 8:20 this morning and asked for me by name. I replied "how can I help you?" She said her name was Amanda and she was called on behalf of Life Giving Moments. I said "do you realize what time it is?" And, on a Saturday morning, no less! I hung up.
Called just before 9:00 PM. The caller had the decency to sound sheepish when I told her that I was familiar with the scam they run and asked them not to call again.
We have just changed our phone number of 20+ years within the last month and have yet to give out the new number thus minimal people are aware of it as it is supposedly privately listed. Have been receiving harassing phone calls from this number before and after the number change. Latest was on 9/23/14 at 2:42pm. Please BEWARE of calls from this number as it seems to be some type of scammer, stalker, or solicitation obtained through fraudulent means.
Recently getting daily calls from various numbers (& area codes) with names such as "Life Alert," "Senior Aid," and "LifeGivMoments" according to caller ID. Obvious "spoofing" scam to trick trusting "senior citizens." I don't answer calls that smell fishy--am also on FTC "do not call" list but the scammers that call this way disregard the list persistently.
After all, they ARE low-life crooks, so what do they care about 'do not call' requests? It seems that such harassing callers should be traced through their phone OR internet service providers and prosecuted.
Consumer Reports magazine, Nov. issue (latest) says that they (CR) are requesting Federal action be taken against violators of 'do not call' and "robo" callers and "spoof" calls (displaying fake IDs). Contact your legislators in Washington and ask them to SUPPORT such action! Speak up to get this annoying and disruptive nonsense stopped!
I am wondering if the massive "data breaches" that are occurring at retailers, i.e. Target, Home Depot and banks i.e. Chase Bank, etc. have provided these low-life parasites with the phone numbers they're using to harass us.
If law enforcement agencies can track down online pedophiles, they should be able to track down online spoofers & scammers. Spoofing software should be prohibited from online sales and those who sell it should be held liable for the harassment it is causing--it promotes telephone ID theft and needs to be stopped! Check out FCC.gov web site and read about it, if you haven't already. Let's all demand Federal action from Congress!
