Called @ 8:20 this morning and asked for me by name. I replied "how can I help you?" She said her name was Amanda and she was called on behalf of Life Giving Moments. I said "do you realize what time it is?" And, on a Saturday morning, no less! I hung up.
This company doesn't honor the DNC lists because they are not registered for access to them. They are trying to pretend they are nothing but a survey organization but they are not. They use psychological tricks to prey upon people's general feelings of protection of children to get you to agree to a follow-up call from an affiliate. That is where the sales pitches start but since you have given them permission, it is not a DNC violation when the affiliate calls. However, the FTC has successfully sued other organizations who have used similar approaches by arguing the surveys were just a means to get those called to agree to a sales call and the sole purpose of the surveys was to generate sales leads. If the FTC can get enough evidence that Life Giving Moments is no different than the telemarketers they have successfully sued, they can levy fines of $16K per call against them.
Just called my house at 9 am. I didn't answer as it was a number I did not recognize. When my machine picked up, they said, "I'd like to talk to Jeanne" (there is no one here by that name). They spit it out even before my machine could do my thing. When they realized it was a machine, they said, "Dammit" and hung up. Very professional. They can suck a bag of diseased dicks.
I let the answering machine pick up. She started off with "Hello, is Susan there ... " and then hung up in mid-sentence. It always unnerves me when these creeps know my name.
Glad i didn't answer phone- I never do. Was waiting for help from an organization that supports "elders". I looked at caller ID and wondered if this company was in response to my reach-out. Thanks to you folks above who've done the legwork so I don't have to.
