They called and did not speak english well. They were very rude and said their company received warning notices from my computer and they were calling me to clean my computer of any malware by logging into a website they said was windows but it was a weird website and I did not go further. I could not understand the name of the company or why it would notify them.
I'm glad you stopped when you did. These scammers are in India and they will walk you down the primrose path in order to seize control of your compluter. This scam is really an old one now but too many people fall for it so they keep on scamming..
I just got a call today from this exact #!! these guys say they are calling from "windows" an started prompting me to do something to my computer b/c they got notification that I had a hacker trying to attack my computer, thank god I didn't do it. but these guys keep calling me back. I wont answer now they are scammers!!
This indian company called me to today... i look up the number and i knew that it was a scam.. I am also happy that i did not go any further with this took control of my computer. Thank God
I just got the same call, so I got the number and looked it up on the Internet and seen all of these posts about the same thing. The caller, who spoke very bad English, said they were from the Windows Tech Department and they were Microsoft Engineers. They wanted me to push the Windows logo on my keyboard and the letter R at the same time. Thank God I didn't follow their instructions!!!
