Absolute scum of the earth, these people are. They called my mom and told her they were with AT&T. Unfortunately, AT&T was just there the day before installing new cable/phone/internet package. They actually had been calling her that very same day to make sure everything went well with the installation. So she fell for it.
This lovely human being, "Jack Wilson" (sounds to be of the Indian persuasion) basically tricked her into running some commands and then was able to gain control of her PC and poof all the icons are gone from the desktop. For the low low price of $99.00 they will fix it... even though they caused it!
So I called Mr. Jack Wilson and was actually able to talk to him. He said he works for Windows. I said do you mean Microsoft? He said no he works for Windows... I said you cannot work for a product! Told him what a lovely person he was to do this to people of the older generations. I hope he sleeps well!
Please tell everyone you know to just hang up on these people...
