I'm 45 and disabled so I'm sure that's how they got my #. I never answer but I keep getting transcribed voice messages that they're trying to save me money blah blah blah. Same script as everyone else's story. Just FYI: 1. Tell them to put you on THEIR "Internal" Do Not Call Registry 2. Register your number on the National DNC Registry 3. File complaint with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) or Sue 4. Block robo calls with Free a Apps on Cell Phone
Count me on the list. I called the number back - the person answered "Social Services". I asked what was the subject of the call - I was asked my phone number and after a short wait the person said my correct name and that they were working for my health insurance company (using the correct name). The person then went on to say they would like to take my monthly health insurance premium directly from my monthly Social Security payment to make things easier for me. My response was pretty clear that I didnt want them to call me again.
I set my phone to not ring if another call comes from that number.
I then called my insurance company and asked them why they were enlisting a company to call me to set up withdrawal from my Social Security since my premiums are being deducted from my retirement payments. The insurance company disavowed any such relationship. I asked them then how did just my phone number give the person that answered my name and the name of my insurance company and my monthly premiums if the person was not working for the insurance company. They said that my retirement system supplants social security and they would naturally know my NAME, Phone Number, address, premiums, etc etc etc.
Someone in either my retirement system or in Social Security is providing information to some crooks and I intend to chase this thing down.

They have a caller I D that looks like a government agency; but it is a phishing scam.
They say they will help you pay your health insurance but then ask for your information......
Yesterday we received a call from Social Services Coordinator. He said they were hired by my medial insurance to help with my social security benefits and to see if I needed help. The man had an accent from either Africa or Jamaica. Immediately my antenna went up knowing from my bank marketing background, that many banking scams come out of these two countries.
He started asking me questions about my social security disability income amount and wanted more information, and then I KNEW it was a scam. Your health insurance company and social security will not ask for this information over the phone. Turns out the 786 area code is out of Florida. I called my insurance agent and she confirmed my insurance company is not out of Florida. I called several government agencies to report this scam, especially after I googled this phone number and got this site.
* NEVER give out your DATE OF BIRTH over the phone to anyone who calls you, no matter who they say they are.
* NEVER give out your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER over the phone
* NEVER give out your BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION over the phone
