They cannot take you to court and this is a scam. Next time they call ask for your debt in writing which if they are legit they will be glad to send it to you
Block the caller and don't ever give out your financial bank information to anyone.
If it's a legal debt you would of gotten a letter (by law) giving you the opportunity to settle the debt or dispute it within 30 days of the letter. If not then it goes to court, if it's large enough.
If not, they might just write it off if it's a petty amount.
Register your phone number on the do not call list and when they call, file a complaint.
One last thing, your best bet is to get a new checking or credit card account number of which you paid the $700.00 to them with. They may try and pull funds at a later date. Since their scammers, I wouldn't put it past them,
Unfortunetly, your out the $700, no scammer will pay back anything.
I know I too was scammed years ago.
Now when they call and threaten me and tell me a sheriff or police are coming to arrest me, I just say "Sweet when they get here I'll have pizza and beer waiting for them." Of course they never show up. Sheriff's and police have better things to do then collect on a debt, that's what we have a legal system for. Only if you don't go to court if told to, then and only then will you be arrested. However you'd know because you'd of gotten legal documentation from the courts letting you know you have a court date and a warrant will be issued if you don't show up. You don't show up, that's on you.
