First thing you are not going to do is pay them one penny until they validate the debt in writing via US mail. Not e mail, fax, or even smoke signals.
Next, you are going to go here, read your rights in this matter and file a complaint, as well as read and possibly download sample letters to send to them: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Now if they truly have all your information, you need to notify your bank, the credit bureaus to put a fraud watch on your records, and if they have your full social security number, you need to notify the IRS by using a form from this page, most likely Form #14039, but please determine which form suits your situation first: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F
DO NOT let them panic you into paying. That is their intent, they try to extort money from people because they are criminals.
If you can obtain any more information on them, please come back here and post it and we will try to find out what we can about this bunch of thieves.
This is essentially a debt scamming operation. Nobody knows where these people are located. In order to take you to court you would have to be properly served with court documents (usually a summons) by a person authorized to serve process in your state. Law cases in most ordinary civil matters are only filed at the end of a period where the two parties can't reach an amicable settlement. If you were a possible defendant in a law suit, you would know about it because letters would have been exchanged beforehand between the parties. You would not hear about it by cold call from some scammy debt collector.
No legitimate lawyer simply cold calls an opposing party and says they are taking you to court. This group is simply threatening you and trying to scare you into paying them something. Don't fall for it. Do not pay them one dime.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course being scammers they wont' send you a debt validation letter. So at that point, simply block their calls.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Under federal rules, debt collectors cannot threaten those they call)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.
One way they get your number is by posting it in a craigslist ad. These are an extension of the Georgia scammers who got my number 8 months agp when i foolishly posted it in an ad.,they were caught but continue to resell numbers to Florida geniuses that i now call Georgia/ Florida line
I've been getting calls from a 786 area code claiming that I'm a prime suspect in some kind of fraud investigation. They have called me from 27 different numbers and I blocked all of them but they keep calling me from different numbers with the same claim. I was finally able to speak to someone and ask them for their company information. They gave me a phony name of Ron Perez and associates but she declined to give me the address. I told her that I new they were scam artist and to never call me again. She hang up on me... A--holes! I can't believe they make it their full time job to take advantage of people....
Received call from Kevin Tempo private investigator working on a case about my SS# 786-[removed]. This one did not sound automated, but I had a hard time hearing. The caller id showed it was from Legal Processing. I have had a lot of calls from Legal Processing from GA, FL. Did not answer and not calling back.
