Sort of automated voice (but sort of human) stated my social security number was involved in fraud or a crime and stay on the line so one of the investigators can talk to me. Riiiiight.
If it were so important it would be a direct call from someone who would identify themselves accordingly. Just hang up. They're looking for suckers.
Just received message from Kevin saying my social security number is listed as being involved in some criminal matter. Said I had to call back or I would be taken to court. Don't they know that all phone numbers can be checked out to see if they are scammers???? Private investigators don't usually herald their title. Never give any information over the phone.
Received multiple missed calls from this number today. The last missed call left a voicemail claiming to be a person by the name of "Kevin Temple" and that he "was a private investigator where my SS# was being used and could face legal action". I called the number back and they claimed to be something services. In the background, you could hear multiple calls being placed with the same message. When I asked whom I was speaking with, I was told "Anthony" something. When I asked to speak with Kevin, he was not sure who that was and that "my number was not coming up". Blocked.
This number called me with the same private investigator Kevin Temple calling. They claim to be a company called Legal Mediation out of Miami and what they have are stolen names and possible socials from payday loans that are years old (also have contact for references for loans). First of all they will never send the police out to arrest you for a bad debt. You would be served papers from a court (officer of the court) in whatever state you reside in and it would be a civil matter. DO NOT PAY A DIME TO THESE PEOPLE, COMPLETE SCAM.
Also be aware that your social is out there for other scammers. What needs to happen is an investigation to find out how names and socials ended up in the hands of criminals.
