I received a call but didn't answer since it wasn't in my contact list. The following week I received a follow-up letter in the mail from Fidelity letting me know they had tried to reach me by phone. It could be legit, I do have a account with them, but I know how to contact them if I want to.
Seems to be legitimate. The guy didn't ask for passwords or any personal information. He seemed to know enough about my portfolio that he probably wasn't a scammer.
This # called, man left a VM: ""Alan Ortman with Fidelity Investments", told me call back 800-544-5315 and use extension 76083.
From what people are saying it sounds like it's a form of sales call from Fidelity to see if they can "help" you with your investments. Thanks, if I wanted help I'd call you.
FYI,
1) Don't even pick up the call ----- you are not obligated to talk to anyone on unknown phone numbers . Surely you don't open unknown e-mail addresses, do you?
2) if it's important enough your unknown caller should leave a message
3) if you happen to answer the call and the caller is a telemarketer, or is rude or pushy just say "hang on a minute" ( don't even wait for a polite opening ), put the phone down, and later, hang up when you hear the dial tone.
4) are you being charged to call that area code 321 number to remove your phone number from the call list? just curious
TIME is the most valuable asset to telemarketers so the longer you keep them on line the more likely you will be removed from the contact list. DON'T TALK TO THEM !!! It works for me !!
Am now able to blacklist phone numbers on our Ooma system and set the system to continuously ring. See Ooma.com
That is a legit call from Kevin at Fidelity Investments. I have worked with him on portfolio. If you don't believe this post look up Fidelity's 800 number and ask for the Salt Lake city office and ask for ext. 77790. It will be kevin or his voicemail. They do call Fidelity customers and see if they are interested in going over your portfolio. No high pressure, they take not interested and say good-bye.
