Lady called claiming to be with Direct TV and wanting to offer me channels for free for several months, for being a valued customer. I asked her if I would need to call back to cancel the channels later and she said I would get emails informing me before they would charge my account. I hung up and looked at the channels she said she was giving me, I immediately called Direct TV to tell them I did not want these channels. They were adult channels. Direct TV said there was no changes to my account and that the 805-256-1462 is not them. Do not pick up!
got a call from this number. Caller I.D said it was Directv so I answered. Offered me an upgrade on my HD channels. Said it would take 24 to 48 hours to go into effect. Thought that was weird but ok, but today, 5 days later and no new channels, I called Directv. Was told there was no such upgrade offer. But the price per month for the upgrade was correct. Scam? Don't know. The guy at Directv said he would report my issue to his supervisor. Will he? don't know.
I received a call at 8:12 PM from this number. I did not answer because
1. the area code was outside of any area code that I would expect to call me;
2. it was 8:12 PM
3. if it is something urgent, I would expect the caller to leave a message.
HAVING STATE THE ABOVE, I note that I DO HAVE Direct TV - it is basically far superior to the hard-wired cable companies - IMHO.
My guess is that they are offering a FULL BUNDLE package with AT&T to install internet and have cell phone service. The AT&T Internet through DirecTV is supposed to be the best and the fastest - @ 1,000 Mbits - versus 45 Mbits if you go directly to AT&T.
I was going to get the 1000 Mbit speed - except for the fact that I just switched to COX CABLE's "Panoramic Internet" recently - and surprisingly it works super for my computers - and with DIRECT TV.
So I don't want to give up something that is finally working super, for an unknown alternative that I would have to sign up for a at least a 1 year haul to get it.
So it goes.
If you want to try the AT&T 1,000 MBIT speed, then answer the (804) 256-1462 phone call!

Called my cell twice within 30 minutes. No message either time. From previous responses that say it is DirecTV, I do have DirecTV and did have a chat session with them last night. If this is a legit follow-up call, why not leave a message? The number is blocked now.
I have received several calls from this number and they never leave a message. I have not had any work or problems with my DirectTV. I have received calls from DirectTV and they always leave a message. Just because the caller ID says DirectTV doesn't mean it is them. I have never answered and don't plan to when the call again...which they will. Annoying.
