Each platoon gets a satellite phone to share to call loved ones back home. This one is currently being used in Iraq. Definitely don't miss it, because it is a loved one calling from out there.

my good friend called from this number, he too is serving in iraq and explained its all satellite connection! and often the connection isnt great and it takes a moment for the call to connect so dont hang up thinking its a telemarketer, i luckily knew he would be calling and waited!!
