I got a call from "James" claiming he was from GE Capital & I qualified for $3000. I told him I didn't understand & he started getting rude, implying that there was nothing I shouldn't understand. I felt it was a scam & hung up. A few minutes later I called him back & he answered GE Capital, how can I help you? I knew it was him (same broken English, accent & voice). He said it was & he wanted to "give" me my $3000. I told him I'd be happy for him to give it to me, but I wasn't accepting a loan that I hadn't applied for. He told me Yes, I had applied, I must have forgotten. I assured him I would have remembered. He told me he would like to hang up. I told him I would like for him to stop scamming people. He was infuriated, said it wasn't so & he was going to put a red mark on my application (that non-existent application, I suppose). I told him to go right ahead & hung up...
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR 90 GURANTEED APPROVAL LOANS STARTED RECIEVING CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER THEY SAY THEY ARE WITH GE CAPITAL BANK AND I TOLD THEM IM NOT GIVING THEM MONEY I DONT HAVE AND THAT MONEY PAKS ARE UNTRACEABLE I WORKED WITH THEM LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT MONEY GETS STOLEN QUICK.... AND THAT I WAS NOT AN ATM....
I got a call from this again now they are say they are from GE capital. They said I put app. But I didn't I want these calls to stop. First they dept collector now they are from a bank what's next.
Its a scam and its illegal for them to ask for money upfront! They want you to go get a card and pay, then will ask for more and you'll be out the money for your trouble as well and never see a dime of the "promised loan" ..
Got a call from this number saying it was my power company and they were going to turn the power off in an hour and leaves a callback number. When you call the number back it has the actual FPL recording and asks you to enter an extension. When you get ahold of someone, he said that this was a permanent shutoff because they did not recieve your last payment. When I told him I was on automatic debit, he said that they did get the payment but it was a human error on their end and was credited to the wrong account. It needs to be refunded but they needed at least a partial payment to keep the account from getting turned off today. They were losing me at this point, but where they really lost me is that the payment they needed was about half what I owed, and I had to go make a cash payment at a grocery store to make sure that it was posted immediately.
Now I consider myself pretty smart and usually chuckle when people fall for scam calls, but these guys were actually pretty good. Even though I did not make any payments to them, they were able to get my cell phone and amount of the last payment I made. I immediately called FPL and they said that they are aware these calls are going on, thanked me for my call and my business, and that I should call the police as well.
