I am 15 years old, these people called me and there is one problem, there were no zeroes but they told me my acc was locked and they said press 1 to talk to one of our agents or something, so I press one as my stuborn self, and it is still a computerized recorder voice call, and it said press one to unlock my acc and something or other.
Did not answer call that showed up only as "847" at 10:55 pm. Voicemail left was a recorded female robovoice that said "locked. Please press 1 and you will be transferred to our security department."
Probably nothing can be done, because these people are masking their true phone number and can constantly change it.
I got a call from just 847, when I picked up it was an automated recording that was already playing and said my account was frozen, but did not specify which account. It then transferred me to their "security" department and asked me to enter my 16 digit account number. I immediately hung up and I wasn't able to call back because it's not a real phone #. I wish I knew about *57!!
Hi--I just got the same call! My AT&T cell phone rang around 8PM EST and caller ID simply read "847." When I picked up, it was a same gig... female robot's voice that said "my account was suspended" or something like that. Just like other people said here, the first part seemed cut off, so I start wracking my mind as to whether I was late or behind on any bills! The unlady-like robot told me to 'Press 1' to talk to their Security Department. Thanks folks for sharing your experiences because quite frankly this freaked me out for a second! Hope they stop doing this nonsense soon.
Got a call ths morning. Just 847. I was just lying in bed staring at my phone and not wanting to get up. So when I saw/heard it ring I was able to pick it up on the first ring so nothing was cut off for me. It said "hello I'm calling from..." nets, vepts, pets something ets "to tell you your account has been locked. Press 1 to speak with our security department." Once I pressed one the same robo lady voice said "welcome to our security department. Press 1 to reactivate your account." I just hung up then. I figured it might be a scam and if it was I didn't want to open an account I didn't want or put one of mine in danger.
not sure if this is the right one or not.. but this is as close as i can get to the ## right now.. i got call from a +847. i let it go to voice mail from my cell did not leave any message at all... just give me unknown name. i have used my app # blocker app.. but this is getting really old having to block #s almost everyday even Sundays..
