I agree. Feces against the wall. Keep dialing "Something" until the phone rings.
While the state and Fed DNC lists DO keep legit people and orgs from calling you, the scammers just call #s.
Nothing stopping any of us from calling any random # at all. If we make a connection we didn't look at a phone book or DNC list. That's good enough for scammers.
Later comments hint at the medical lawsuit settlement premise for advance fee fraud. I hadn't given thought to whether this call category could be painted as sales. Victims are told falsely that they have to pay some "processing fee" or similar to claim their share of a class action fund. That's almost selling a service. If the caller offers a lawsuit loan, the DNCR coverage is clear, but I've never heard of that happening.
Certainly these bums risk TCPA claims if anyone can find the fraud shop's domestic cattle herder within the USA. No doubt the FTC would like to bust some heads, but they have the same problem of finding them.
I see that the later posts do give a lot more information on what this scam was about. Perhaps if "Clara" had been more clear on what the call was it might have helped her post. Again the problem arises out of the fact that these are probably overseas scammers.
Received a call from this number. Caller ID said IVC Claims Center, and not Swedesboro, NJ. No voicemail left. I added it to my blocked list. Regardless of how it came in, I would have blocked the number. No more calls for me from this number. If you don't have a phone system with the option to block numbers, you should get one. Mine holds up to 250 numbers to block. Some systems hold up to 500 numbers. Definitely worth the cost, and is cheaper than having your phone company do the blocking Today, my table is probably about 1/2 full, and I get a WHOLE LOT less SPAM calls now, because continued/repeat callers get blocked.
