YES... I.e.: if you are on the national DNC registry, and an automated telemarketer keeps calling you, the best thing to do is have the state att'y general mail them a letter, and eventually this will actually scare them enough to stop calling.
I just got the cal from good ol' Orie (Hartford, CT).
If you are getting repeated calls, phone Verizon and tell them about the situation. They should know what we can do about callers like this and simply associate this scam with their name (like, "it seems like I get a lot of fraudulent calls from Verizon customers...why is that? Can I speak w/a manager?". The last thing they want is to be branded w/supporting scam artists and fraudulent activity; maybe they'll investigate if many people call in.
Pressed one and spoke to Daniel for Auto Warranty Services. Informed him it is illegal for his company to be calling my cellphone. These jerks continue to call my cellphone despite my having told them numerous times to stop calling, being listed on the DNC registry and the fact...IT'S A CELLPHONE AND ILLEGAL. The caller id phone numbers are usually always bogus as they are being spoofed so poor Orie up there probably has no idea these jerks are spoofing his home phone number.
Really fed up with receiving 3-4 calls a day on my cellphone that is costing me minutes!
Have received calls from similar numbers all using caller IDs such as Orie Jenkins or A Jenkins or R Jenkins. These calls have all come in on a business line, never a cell phone. I never answer because I do not recognize the number. The call from 860-216-2292 came in on 7/15/08 at 10:16 PST
On the same business line, I have received several call from the following numbers that are also suspicious:
410-727-5090 - Helen N Eisel
714-985-2381
714-985-9829
781-273-3656 - Jeanne & Robt F Le Duc
