The guy who had an Indian accent had me to go geeksupport.com since he got a report that my computer downloaded "bad" files. When I told him that I have MUCH MORE experience that he does managing computers and that I have 18 years of IT experience (which is true), he started quizzing me to test my knowledge:
1) Where do system files go? I responded The Windows folder on C:
2) Where do applications go? I responded the Program Files folder on C:
3) Where is RCACCESS.EXE? When I told him that I don't know that.....he hung up.
Thank you to all of you who previously wrote in. I too have had calls from this number and from other numbers about my computer like the other fellow who wrote in. I hung up on them because I had heard of this scam.
Added to my reject list, but I'm sure they have multiple phone numbers.
Yes this number keeps on calling me when I I'm watching T.V, I answer, the party calling remains silent and then hangs up after about 10 seconds whilest im watching T.V,It's kind of freeky not sure whether to report it to the police or not...
Received calls from them on 11/20, 11/21, and 11/22 for a total of 6 calls in 3 days. I have the number on my reject list so they go directly to voicemail however they never leave a message.
