These people call four or five times a day. Local news did a fraud report on them, said they have hit all fifty states. Rip off scammers, spent 189 million on their vacation, New cars etc.
I was waiting on a plumber to come so I answered the phone, thinking it might be him. The Lady asked for me and went into her "sermon" I just hung up.. Caller ID says "Children's Cancer" Her name was Vanessa... I DO NOT give to ANYONE calling me on the phone..
Received a call from this # at 8:45am. ID says "Childrens Cancer". I picked up (but didn't say anything) just because I hate it when these puddinheads leave a message on my machine. Dead air on the other line, then some woman comes on and asks "Is the lady of the house there? Hello....."
I agree with laurie - do NOT give to anyone over the phone. I've had people claiming they were with the fraternal order of police, shriners, campaign funding, medical research, Easter Seals, Unicef, Jerry's Kids, St. Jude, Disabled American Vets, Girl Scouts, etc, etc, etc..... all calling and hoping to scam me out of some money in the name of a charity or other organization. If you want to donate to a charity, do the research, and contact them!
FYI - LEGITIMATE charities will NOT call you. NOT ONE of the #'s calling me has ever been associated with any of these organizations, I have looked into it every time. Don't be stupid enough to believe that the person is really representing the company/organization/charity they are claiming to. And for those of you that do - instead of giving credit or bank info over the phone, ask them to mail you a donation packet/envelope. I guarantee you will NOT get one.
I cannot believe the scammers are calling at these hours. Lately it's been 8:59am, then 8:56am, then 8:50am, and now today as early as 8:45am. If this dumbassery continues, I'm going to be getting calls at 6 in the friggin morning.
For the record - I am on the DNC, which seems to do absolutely nothing. I have also occasionally asked to be removed from call lists, and done the whole press #1 (or whatever option they give) to be removed, but to no avail. Still got calls. Going to report these morons to the FCC, just like I do every other one of these scammers - that's the ONLY thing that stops the calls.
