Exactly same as above, according to Ace. In my case, they first claimed to be calling from Delta. Only after I asked them for clarification did they say that they represented "Affordable Vacations".
This company has harassed me by calling unwantedly several times. I've already told them that I am NOT INTERESTED. And they use different numbers to call my cellphone. I don't know how to report them, maybe I'll check with the Better Business Bureau.
They are a so-called travel club who initially called me and posed as American Airlines. The guy who spoke to me had a thick Filipino flamboyant accent and said I was being invited to a presentation of their grand opening in El Segundo. I asked what company it was for. He said it was for American Airlines. That was a red flag for me.
I was curious, so I continued listening to what he had to say. He said as a gift for sitting in on their presentation for about 90 minutes, I was receiving a gift of two roundtrip tickets anywhere in the 48 states, not including Hawaii or Alaska. I said ok. Then he said he needed to pass my phone call to his supervisor to confirm.
I waited and another guy with a Filipino accent spoke to me. He confirmed my name, and other criteria (age, my live-in significant other's name, salary). Then he said that we would receive roundtrip airfare and 3 days/2 nights hotel accomodation. I said ok. Then I asked the name of their company. He said Affordable Vacations International. That got me thinking. But I continued with the process. I wanted to see what the rest of the process was. He said that a confirmation specialist was going to call me. So I had to wait for their call.
I hung up and another person called to confirm. She confirmed all the required info, the address of where the presentation was in El Segundo. And finally told me that as a gift I was receiving roundtrip airfare, hotel accomodations and now a 7 day cruise of my choice of either Mexico or Caribbean.
I confirmed and hung out. I went online and researched their company. My bestfriend, who I told about them, texted me a website and it reported that this company was a scam or a ripoff. That supported all the inconsistent information I waa receiving about the gift and the name of company being American Airlines.
As a result, I did not go to their so-called presentation. The gift seemed pverly extravagant for 90 minutes of my time. And their incomsistencies and stuterring for answers were all too suspicious. BE WARE and don't agree to do anything with this company. I saved myself from some potential trouble and so should you.
