I received this call several times and finally called back.  The lady told me I had a felony warrant for my arrest due to a payday loan I took out in March of 2013.  I never took out any such loan.  When I told her she was full of it, she said I will see when see has the judge sign the warrant for my arrest and good luck to me.  Then she hung up.  This is nothing but a scam!  I have already filed a complaint with the FCC and will be calling the Attorney General.

Total scam.  If there was a criminal case pending against you, you'd be aware of it from law enforcement.  You would have been aware of it because a member of law enforcement would have interviewed you.   You can check this out by simply going down to your local police station and telling them about this call you received.

Debt collectors have nothing to do with the criminal justice system.  Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.

This is just an attempt by a debt scammer to scare you into paying them something.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they are bothering you,

Report them:

http://www.consumerfinance.gov/Complaint/#debt-collection

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection  (Threatening arrest or criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

Omg!!!! This same number called my husband and threatened to put a warrant out for arrest. Accusing him of bank fraud. They told him if he didn't pay 1700 dollars they would submit it today and put him in jail. A so-called attorney named Phil Albright has been leaving messages on our phone. This is a scam. Let me repeat this for all you doubters, this is a scam. Unfortunately my husband gave all his information. So we contacted the general attorney bureau and they transfered us to an attorney analyst. She told as we had to call our bank and change or close the account, get a new one and put a fraud alert on it. Also, we had to call the credit bureau and put a fraud alert on that too. I hope this helps anyone who comes across this cuz I about died. If I had the means to go after these people I would.  Good luck. Oh whatever you do don't pay these Flippin people.
