In a different, and agonizingly long thread, "Burned" stated s/he ignored the phone call(s), and later ignored the delivered documentation (summons?), because s/he did not like the looks of the person who delivered the documentation.
Posters in that thread asked for proof ... eventually, "Burned" provided the link, as above.
So, we have an example of a person who ignored written letters and (summons?), and did not appear in court to provide a defense. Now, "Burned" is posting statements that the calls were legitimate (no proof there), the letters were ignored, and the (summons?) was issued but ignored.
>> You can't come running to a complaint website and blame everyone else for your lack of due diligence <<
Exactly. "Burned" seems to want to ventilate ... at length ... suggesting the regulars are at fault for stating a mere phone call is not legally sufficient proof of debt. When, in fact, "Burned" is at fault for ignoring the truly sufficient proofs of debt.
Hopefully this thread will not grow to the size of the other one, as all arguments seem to have been made.
They sent me a letter at my work saying I have 5 days to pay or make a payment arrangement or they will take the steps to bring this case to court and sease my bank account or any asset I may have. Can they even do this
Debt collectors do not get to set the time limit for making a payment or setting up an arrangement to pay. You should demand that they MAIL a debt validation letter showing that you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt. If they refuse to mail proof that you owe them a debt, do NOT pay them! I'm not sure if you're from Canada or the US - if in the US, report them to the FTC (www.ftc.gov) and your state's Attorney General. If in Canada, they have similar consumer protection laws - see this site for more info: http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/oca-bc.nsf/eng/h_ca02149.html

Just called this number back to tell them I dont know who they are trying to reach since they dont leave anyones name. We are an office with lots of employees. I told "Samantha Evans" that I dont know who she is trying to reach but I'd like her to take our number off her list. She said she would like to be skinny but shes not and hung up. I called her back and she answered by saying I guess you still want me to take the number off my list and I said yes you [***] [***]. She hung up. She called me right back and told me my [***] [***] mom doesnt work there anymore. I will be reporting them to everyone agency I can think of.
