Call from "windows" which I have had numerous times. They want to gain control of your computer to fix a serious problem. Dangerous for people who might not understand what they are doing!
A call blocker may be helpful. If you are using a cell phone, Mr Number is good. If it is a home phone, an Amazon search should turn up several models.
If anyone with an Indian accent cold-calls you and ( 1) threatens you or ( 2) offers you something, or (3) tells you there is something wrong with your computer. You know it's a scam.
So-- hang up immediately and block the number.
Never allow anyone access to your computer. Never wire money to anyone you do not personally know.
Nothing against Indians or [***]; that's just the way the world is right now.
East Indian voice saying there is a problem with my computer, I said that is not true and hung up. 3 or more calls per day but I do not pick it up anymore, only the once which was probably a mistake. Calls like this make me reticent to answer unknown numbers.
