Steppingstone is a company that peddles "family-friendly" (religious) movies. The owner, Brian, is very talkative and generally polite, but if you don't personally ask him to stop calling you, he'll continue at all hours of the day (from spoofed phone numbers all over the U.S.), until you're driven to insanity. What he SHOULD be doing is marketing his products through churches, where he'd have s more receptive audience, instead of giving himself a terrible reputation as a merciless telemarketer. In a way, I feel sorry for him. Telephone sales (especially cold-calling) is a horrible, depressing way to make a living. In a nutshell, Steppingstone is annoying as hell, but harmless; not a criminal enterprise, as some here have stated.
I've been receiving a lot of unwanted calls lately, despite the fact that I'm on the Do Not Call list. I've received unwanted calls from an ID that says 'Life Giving Moments"---I can't recall what the subject was.
Yesterday, I received a call from 952-204-9047 (Life Giving Moments). A lady asked me to take a 4 question survey about children's entertainment. I was very tired, so (foolishly) I answered the questions. I tried asking the lady who 'Life Giving Moments' is, but she insisted that she was with 'Stepping Stones' entertainment. She was very slick. She said, "There are so many different spelling of names; how do you spell your name again?" Without really thinking, I spelled out my first name only. (I realize now that they never had my name; it was a trick to get me to reveal my name so that they can ask for me by name when they call back.) I was told that 'Stepping Stones' would call back within a day or so for a 'follow-up' survey.
Sure enough, today I received a call from 'Stepping Stones' 909-784-1926. A guy who said his name was Brian was trying to get me to buy 'family friendly' movies. When I told him I wasn't interested in buying anything, he asked if he'd called at a bad time! I politely asked to be removed from their list.
Just thought I'd reveal that 'Life Giving Moments' and 'Stepping Stones' are affiliated in some sort of way. I really regret giving these scammers my first name; now I'm afraid that this info will be shared and many more scammers will be calling and asking for me by name. (Just the other day I received yet another call from a phony Police Charity. I've gotten several calls from the fake IRS scammers based in India, too). Somehow, scammers got my phone number. I never used to get these scam calls, but somehow my phone number must have gotten onto the 'scam list'.
Stepping Stone Entertainment calls me at least 3 times a day. As early as 8:30 am and as late at 8:55 pm. I am tired of them. They are looking for a Julie apparently because they finally left a 2 second message asking for her and no one in my house is named Julie.
