I received the Bueno Neighbors card too. My card had 2 different phone numbers for NM also telling me to ask for Barbara; Albq 505-881-4998 and Santa Fe 1-800-574-3599. They also claimed to have a "parcel" for me (parcel # NB 0704-73). Me, being a new homeowner, I had received multiple gift cards from Lowe's and Home Depot, so I called (like an idiot). I just moved in so I didn’t have the internet yet and I should have waited and checked first but…. They claimed to have been in business for 21 years (which is very fishy compared to the previous statement of 81 years) and worked with the local banks to provide their service free of charge. They wanted my name, how many people lived in my home, and my schedule (when I would and wouldn’t be home) wanting to do a water treatment. They were willing to come out between 7:30 and 8:00pm. After thinking it over, I immediately called and cancelled my appointment. I had to call 3 times before someone would answer the phone. I have already called the Detective Dept. about this and made it known to anyone I know buying a home. I have no proof one way or another that this is a scam but something is definitely not right!
We got the same card. My husband ended up calling. Bad move. Nothing has happened yet, but you shouldn't call. They send you that card because they want your phone number. They want to schedule a date and time to "hand deliver" a $25 home depot gift card. They want to come out and "check your water" which takes about 30 to 45 minutes. They ask if you are married or single. If you are married they say "The only thing we ask is that you and your spouse are both present." --- Not cool.
They claim to be with "echo water" from fayetteville. I looked it up and from what I see they don't exist. I did some researching and came across a blog from someone in New Mexico in 2004 that received the same thing. That was the only other information I could find. They hadn't called at the time they wrote the blog, so I don't know their story other than they received the exact same card on the exact same type of invitation paper.
We are considering taking it to the police station and just putting it out there as a warning in case something *does* happen as a result of calling.
So long story short, they're trying to get your phone number and claim they want you and your spouse to be home when they do some water quality check. Something isn't right.
i got the same thing.claimed to be echo water from fayettville and wanted to come hand deliver a $25 dollar olive garden gift card.claimed to have been in buisness for 81 years.i can not find anything on them any where.i googled and search on better buisness bureau.i hung up on them.all seems to fishy .
We just moved into Fayetteville and have received two of these postcards from Bueno Neighbors asking us to contact them at 910-423-0970 because they have a parcel. I am definitely not calling and am trying to figure out what authorities need to be contacted. Never call these type of scams, folks, save yourself the trouble.
Just moved into Jacksonville, NC. Received the same type of letter in the mail. It also says "Ask for Barbara" to receive my "parcel". I've decided not to contact them based on what I've read here. I agree that it's probably some advertiser.
