I have received incomprehensible bills from the hospital that make it impossible for me to tell
- what I am being charged for
- Who performed the service
- When and why it was performed
As I specifically left instructions that I would not pay for consults I did not approve or procedures I did not approve, and because I was told outright that double billing is commonplace, I will not pay these bills without that information. Having written to the hospital numerous times with no response. Why a business would expect me to pay for something without taking the time to explain what it is, ia typical of medicine today. With costs falling on patients, they are in for a major wakeup call.
Note I repeatedly said I would pay of the charges were appropriate, with no response. I will if I need to take this for court, just to get the practice for the future
They HAVE to give SOME address so you can pay their phony bill to SOMEONE - if you're dumb enough to fall for this scam. It's Law Office of Mark L. Nichter/44 South Broadway/White Plains, NY 10601 - Nichter seems to have a hideaway office at 11 Martine Avenue right around the corner. Nichter's N.Y.S. Bar Registration number is 1223635. The State Bar's on Elk Street in Albany - if you get angry enough - a state I'm fast approaching.
Let me get this straight. You say you WORK for Nichter and describe a LEGAL collection process - but mine was ENTIRELY different - I just refused to pay because the bill'd been fully covered by insurance - and it doesn't even "occur" to you that an attempted scam was/is in progress. Then you tell B. Sanchez or whatever, without asking ANY details, to cough up the dough. What's your cut?
That's the scam. Nichter's office HAS a lot of this information - there's a leak SOMEWHERE - but his employee"s" don't know where to look (Jon/John, Sean/Shawn and Ian all have identical voices and can complete one another's sentences). "What's it for?"/"Contact the provider!"/"Who's the provider?"/"Uhh ... ." It was on a leaked form right in front of John/Sean/Ian, but he apparently didn't think that was necessary to the scam - and didn't realize it was right in front of his eyes. (John/Sean/Ian are perfectly fluent in English, but surreal: under pressure, they revert to strange patterns. I mean "O Mr. Arthur" - c,mon!
INCESSANT dunning phone calls from 914-993-9639 (long-since fully paid by insurance) finally made me realize partly how the scam's supposed toworks. From "Alfalfa" 2/28/11: "Trans-Continental Credit Collection (LA-based; 213/478/0041) has a huge stake in the debt-collection game - and so does Mark L. Nichter, the New Jersey attorney that Trans-Continental uses to intimidate customers [sic] into believing that legal action is imminent." Also obvious: commissions-only business, otherwise the identical-voiced John/Sean/Ian (or maybe it's Nichter himself using a phony name) would have given up. But if Nichter can get even a penny from me (AARP/Medicare say "No!" and I recognize his scam) he'd be slightly "richer". (By the way, Nichter claims to have gone to New York University Law School [not nearly as good as where I went to law school, bit awfully good]: but he actually went to a similarly-named but inferior place.
