"Best bet is that the hospital never gets paid or at least not what you owe." Shrug; if I don't owe anything - it was all paid by insurance - but Nichter's office is still dunning me ... . Sounds like a scam, right? Only question is how Nichter's office got partially-CORRECT information on me. A leak somewhere?
Maybe it's me - back in MY law-school days we were too busy trying to LEARN what the law WAS, not to figure how it could EVADED by scamsters - but I'd wonder if the "Law Firm of Mark Nichter" (it's VERY small) lost sight of how narrow the line is that it/they had to tread between threats to actual-but-recalcitrant debtors people vs. who don't owe a cent because government insurance and/or private insurance paid everything. Looks like Nichter & Co. has cash-flow problems, and is breaking the law by dunning people willy-nilly - hoping the law won't notice. THAT'S REPREHENSIBLE AND CRIMINAL! If you wish: (1) Hon. Eric T. Schneiderman/Attorney General of New York/The Capitol/Albany, N.Y. 12224-0341 and (2) Better Business Bureau of New York/150 White Plains Road/Tarrytown, NY 10591. ("Hey! YOU lose a lot of money in this scam?" "No; only about $10 tracking down a bogus phone number Nichter & Co. gave me, and a nose bent out of shape because for a few minutes I thought it/they might be honest."
GET A LIFE! I can't figure you guys out. After all these months of almost-daily phone calls, I no longer bother answering. ("Then how do you know it's us?" "Who else would call at all sorts of WEIRD hours and not leave a message?" John/Shawn\Ian (yes, I KNOW they rhyme, and assume that's so they can say "O, Mrs. Sylvia, it must have been someone else!" "Then why is your voice identical?" CLICK! Then "John/Shawn/Ian" probably wonder why they never get a return call ... .) I've checked with AARP/Medicare: I owe you NOTHING and have been so advised by both that you're a scam and shouldn't pay you a penny. OF COURSE NOT! Maybe people in YOUR country fall for this scam, but in America it's a lot harder - or maybe you've found a way around the system that enables you to eke out a minuscule amount, but I'd think there must be easier ways to earn at least a pittance. Meanwhile, I'll just keep gathering addresses, then finally report you to the authorities and hope they shut you down - and fire you. Latest: Hon. David E. Chong/Public Safety Commissioner/77 South Lexington Avenue - Third Floor/White Plains, NY 10601.
I am being double tapped by a hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma because they sent me a bill with an incorrect first name on it.
instead of "Mark" they spelled "Mary" Repeated efforts over the phone, and being assured that it would be corrected only created a second Account with my name on it. A check was paid to them which was apparently credited to the Ghost persons account. Another bill came to me as unpaid. I called again. They said they'd correct it. So the fools sent a refund to "Mary", and me a past do to my name. Then after contacting them again, they said they said to return the check and they'd issue another. Then they Sent me ANOTHER past due bill. This all happened last year. Yesterday, I got another past due bill.
Contacted them manager of billing. They find no record of the original billing to "Mary", the file doesn't exist, she basically called me and my family a liar, and said the bill must be paid........Again. Their files are wiped clean as far as "Mary" goes and We didn't keep copies of their incorrect billings that went on a year ago. So, we are going to send them a check just so that we can forget about. I don't trust the Medical industry any more than I would trust an unknown caller from India claiming to be the IRS. We've learned something though. Make a copy of everything when dealing with medical industry and don't throw anything away for a couple of years atleast.
