Got a call from here. Did not answer.
They left a message indicating that someone who does not live in my house (actually only the last name matched) should call them back to verify activity. If this is legit, I would think they would have the correct telephone number!
I also received a call from this number - Fidelity Investments located in the Dallas, TX area. They were calling to set up a time to discuss options that were available for me to manage my 401(k) investments now that i am nearing retirement age.
It was a legitimate call, I do have a 401(k) with Fidelity.
The call sounds very phishy. If they are really from Fidelity, they should have your A/C info before they call you. Why do they call you and ask for your A/C?
It's legit and if you can't call this particular number back, if you have a answering service, they will leave info on how to contact them. You may not know that some employer you worked now or in the past uses Fidelity to manage their pension or 401k.
"do not answer" - Your accusation is based soley on assumptions and you are, in fact, wrong. This is a legitimate call from Fidelity. They cannot deal with most issues via email because of financial confidentiality.
I didn't answer the earlier call I received from 972-443-1960 and when I returned home had an email from Fidelity that there was a message on my IRA account that I could login to read. Upon logging into Fidelity there was a message that they had tried to call me earlier in the day concerning a question I had raised yesterday concerning my account and they provided an 800 number to call to discuss it.
Your advice is sound but you should not make such blatent accusations without the facts . . . it makes us wonder what scam you're trying to pull.
