Its a bad idea to refur to the company as RCI, as there are multiple companies out of texas with those initials. Such as Resident Collect Inc. who are scum do to the fact they wont settle a debt they baught for pennies on the dollar even tho the debt is almost old enough to default. They would rather lose it all instead of settle and make some
I have had the same threatening phone calls from Mr. Jim Steele. This guy should be put out of business. I have a small corporation and he is harassing me on a personal level and has even called family members. He's the lowest scum on the collection totem pole. He's weasel #2, his boss John Robert's is Weasel #1. I was told in the middle of a conversation that he couldn't heart me that evidently something had happened to me so he would call a neighbor to come by and check on me. How about this - I've already paid the bill!
I've already checked into these issues and found that they have not done anything illegal. They are a commercial agency and collect for business accounts like mine. I got a message from my neighbor and all they said was to call a number, they didn't tell them what they were calling about or who they were. I have a small business and if I have any customers that owe me, I guess I would want them to collect for me, because they don't let people hide behind phone machines and voice mail. I paid my bill and the calls stopped. In fact, even though I didn't like the tactics, they made me an offer I could live with and still to this day I do business with the creditor that turned me over.
I guess it's a matter of integrity.
Don't count on the information you get from the BBB. Even though a company has complaints and gets a "bad grade" isn't the real picture. What it means is that they do a lot of business and no matter how good you are, someone is going to complain. The reasaon they get the poor rating is because they aren't official members of BBB and don't pay for that. If you put that company up against other collection agencies that are members...compare the number of complaints, not answered complaints etc, and you won't find much of a difference. In fact the only difference is those other companies "pay" to the BBB to get that title. Doesn't mean they are any better. I have a close friend who worked for the BBB and she told me that is how it works. If that company actually was a member, they would most likely have a score of A+ as long as they answered all of the complaints and they were closed as resolved. Personally, I pay my bills, so I don't have to worry about a collection agency calling me.
