The message on my answering machine said they were calling from US Mint. They wanted to talk to me, by name, and gave a correct order number. The call back number they gave was a correct 800 number for USM, so I called it. They wanted to verify my shipping address and confirm shipment date. So, this call was legit.
We receive calls from this numbers several times each month; we're never behind on bills. Typically, the phone will ring 2 to 3 times and stop. I've never picked the receiver up.
I complained to the person who answered that I was tired of getting calls on my personal cell phone during work hours and for them to please remove my number from their call list. After leaving me on hold quite awhile, she came back and asked for my name and phone number so someone could contact me regarding my complaint. I told her no way was I giving them my name and obviously, they already had my phone number, so remove it! She said she would see what she could do. We shall see.
