I just received a call from this number. They also said I filled out a ballot and they also had my name and number. The person talking sounds like they are from India. They said I won a trip 8day/7nights including airfare. I asked what I had to pay for it and they said just the government taxes. Once you answer questions like are you between the age of 30 to 60 years old and do you make over $50,000.00 they pass you on to a manager. He now wants to set a time for you to pick up your package the same day but that you will sit in for 90 minute talk all about the company giving you the trip. I said I work out Tues, Wed & Thurs I can not make it until Friday. He said okay I'll call you back Friday talk to you then and hung up on me. So it seems like a scam to get you to look into some kind of product. Hope this helps.
Called my cell today. I did not recognize the number so I did not answer. It went to voicemail and when I checked it was blank for about 1 minute... no sound or words.
Cell phone had this number as a missed call. Have folks flying and got concerned that something had happened and they needed to get in touch with me. Tried to call back..msg "this number not in operation". Interestingly enough, I gave my phone number to Clean Water Action yesterday. A 50l(c)(4) non-profit organization in Austin, TX. I WILL be checking w/them on Mon., 08-24-15 to see if my number was sold or their system hacked. It could be a coincidence. But, I WILL
be asking questions about how that organizations information is retained and/or disseminated.
They woke me up on a Sunday at 9 am. I was hangover and really pissed. The guy on the phone had a strong accent (India or Africa) told me I had entered and won a contest (I haven't entered any contest lately) it was some type of cruise. I asked him twice how He knew my name. He didn't tell me; I cursed him out and went back to bed.
calls & leaves no msg. on machine/ if I pick up, noone says anything! I have NEVER filled out anything for any kind of contest + they called a cell phone my son gave me for emergencies-which I've never used!!! I decided to call the # back-guess what???? recording said # was disconnected. Then how did they call?????
I received a call from this number to my emergency room cell phone this morning. There was a slight pause before the person on the other end responded to my greeting. The caller identified himself as the assistant manager of a restaurant whose name I did not catch due to the caller's accent. When I alerted him that this was a hospital phone, he apologized and said he had the wrong number. The background noise sounded like that of a call center, but it is possible that it was a busy restaurant. Based on the comments below and the pause at the beginning of the call, my hunch is that it was a call center. They usually dial a number at random and just move on to the next one when the call is not answered, so it's best just not to pick up when one does not recognize the number. I reported the call to the FTC.
