"Internal Revenue ServiceS"--note the s they use in their robo-scam call. The IRS doesn't play this game, so just delete the message and their supposed threat. Ooooooo, I'm terrified.
I just got the exact same call and same message. I think the IRS notifies by mail only if there is a problem with a person's taxes. I've heard of this scam before.
I just got the exact same call -- same thing: a male computer voice.
We've been seeing this on the news lately. Seniors are favorite targets of these types of phone scams. If you call the number, they insist you send them a mail order immediately to cover the "penalty fees".
This scam is still running. Claimed to be IRS Crime Investigation Division. Says a in part: ..."To our division is 206-201-2400. Again that number is 206-201-2400. Do not disregard this message return the call now if you don't return the call or if we don't hear from your attorney either the only thing we can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you. Have a great day ahead."
