A man who could barely speak English, he had a thick Asian accent told me I had a $500 grant from the US Government and that all I had to do was give him my bank account information.
He knew my name, address and birthday but wanted my bank information.
The number called me and wanted my account info. He didnt speak much english and he said it was going to recieve 500 dollars every month for the next 6 months. They tried to record my full name, bank name, and account number. They have called back twice.
First time this happened. I didn't answer because I always screen my calls. Did a search and found this web page. I immediately called Alltel customer service and told them what I know so far. They said that this number is also associated with unauthorized charges to customer's bills when they subcribe to things like free ringtones and the like. So look at your bill carefully and don't give out your number to just anybody.
This guy called and left a message on my company voicemail. Could not understand most of it. What I did understand was "I want to be your friend" and "Okay bye". The last part sounded so gay that it was absolutly halarious. I ended up recording it to my cell and saving it as my ringtone. Now when my co-worker calls thats what it says. He called back again and I started messing around with him, when I was ready to go I played back his message "Okay bye." and hung up on him. My coworkers and I had a good laugh about it.
