This is a scam. My employer received a voice message on the general number. Someone named Sophie claimed to be from the "Illegal Payments Division of Western Union in New Jersey" and asked me to call her back at a '732' number. I called Western Union to verify. They said it was not associated with them and not to call back. If Western Union actually calls you, they will give you an '800' number. They will also not ask you to provide information.
Got a voicemail from a "Sophia" asking about an international transfer. I don;t deal with Western Union ta all and, although we do some international wire transfers, we're not expecting any at this time. From the other posts it looks like a weal attempt at social engineering to gain account access.
Got a call from a lady asking to speak with an employee. I put her on hold while I searched the name and found out the employee is no longer with us. I accidently hung up on her when I went to pick the phone back up. Has yet to call back like legit callers do.
I have gotten many calls from this number reecntly. I have not answered and they have not left a message yet. i almost want to answer out of morbid curiosity, but I am sure it is the same thing as has been reported here already....
