Got a call from someone whose Indian accent was so thick, I could not tell what he was saying, but then I did hear something about "your computers". I immediately knew it was a scam, because I am well aware of the scam where people are told that Microsoft is calling them about a problem.
And I only use Macs. I told the guy that I knew he was wanting to scam me about computers I don't even own.
Then I called him an appropriate name and hung up.
They have called REPEATEDLY today, saying that they are with Microsoft and are receiving alerts that I have malware and other dangerous things on my computer. They said to press the Windows Flag key simultaneously with the "R" and the Events Manager comes up. It does show "error" messages that exactly coincide with them having me press the Flag key and "R" key. I have hung up twice and the third time, they seem to have hung up on me after I questioned them why they were calling on my father's telephone number when the computer was mine and his telephone number was not associated with any of my software or hardware. When I call the number that shows up on my Caller ID, I get the answering machine of a man named "Harry".
Been receiving calls from this number for 2 days.. I did not recognize it so I did not answer. They were calling my parents (in their 90's) and my mother repeatedly told them she doubts if she is having any problem with her computer since she doesn't even have one.
