Got a call from someone whose Indian accent was so thick, I could not tell what he was saying, but then I did hear something about "your computers". I immediately knew it was a scam, because I am well aware of the scam where people are told that Microsoft is calling them about a problem.
And I only use Macs. I told the guy that I knew he was wanting to scam me about computers I don't even own.
Then I called him an appropriate name and hung up.
received call, no message left ...put on block call list.
Fairy Graham - everyone has error messages in their Event Viewer - but almost no one knows it logs errors there or even how to get to it. It's not something the general computer user would know exists, so I guess it's easy to get someone to believe they are helping you. It's easy to clear manually.
these "clowns" call about "WINDOWS" and ask if i have a computer. They are also telling me that there is something wrong with my computer. I replied back to the caller "what is a computer" - said that in a robotic voice and the person disconnected. this is a complete SCAM. No computer company is going to call you. Be AWARE.
Got a call today at 12:30pm, probably for the 10th time, from 201-605-7987 caller ID shows Mamun Mian, and I answered it out of curiosity. It was a man with a VERY heavy middle eastern accent. He said he was calling regarding Windows on my computer. I figured this was a SCAM call. I told him he's not going to get any information from me and then I hung up. I REALLY wish the FBI or the Security Commission could catch these people that are scammers.
They are still calling me with the same stupid name Mamun--you can report them all you want--no one is ever going to do anything, especially DNC--this is not the original number they used and the name never came up until the last couple of calls.
