I received a call on my cell that was an automated message, male voice with slight non-descriptive accent (understandable). He said that he was calling from AT&T and that my U-Verse system was reporting an error and that my system had been compromised and that I needed to call back at the same number. TOTAL SCAMMING/PHISHING operation. BLOCKED THE NUMBER.
Received a call from this number, caller had a heavy Indian accent. He said he was calling from Windows PC and that there were problems with my computer. I told him I knew he was a scam artist and told him not to call again. But we know that they will. An hour before this call there was another from a different number that has called me several times in the last few weeks that's been blocked. I have now blocked 5 different numbers all saying they're from Windows PC and all callers with heavy Indian accents.
Claimed he was a Microsoft technician. Said they were getting messaged that our computer was at risk with viruses and information was being stolen. Asked me press the windows button and "R" bringing up the R screen. I was playing along but did not do anything they asked. Asked to speak to a manager, he wasn't available. asked for a call back number, he gave me a 1800 # that was short digits. I also asked for his tech #, he gave me something bogus. He barely spoke english and kept coughing into the phone.
Received a call from this number at my job. They gave a long explanation about why they were calling before I was able to ask the name of the company. Very heavy Indian accent. They said they were calling from "Microsoft Windows Tech Support". He even said we already do business with them (we do not). I asked if I could place him on hold and the line went dead. Sounds like a scam to me. I alerted our IT department.
