I received a call on my cell that was an automated message, male voice with slight non-descriptive accent (understandable). He said that he was calling from AT&T and that my U-Verse system was reporting an error and that my system had been compromised and that I needed to call back at the same number. TOTAL SCAMMING/PHISHING operation. BLOCKED THE NUMBER.
I received the same call. They told my wife they were following up to a computer issue we had. She said it was resolved. They continued saying they found the issue and she said that her husband resolved this. They then told her they were the hacker, so she hung up. Irritating nonetheless.
called me 7 times per day from a New Jersey USA area code. I finally answered-some rude man and I told them to stop calling me, they called me 3 more times so I blocked the number. Some kind of scam for sure. started in april 2016
Ditto to all the above. This (indian) guy claimed his name was Raymond James & he works for Windows & I can call back on what he said was Windows toll-free number to verify he is not lying: 805-309-0165. Well, do tell, THAT number is suspect also. What do these annoying people want? Yeah, I also just listened to him try as best he could to get me to get into my computer so he could walk me thru the process of clearing it out. I told him that 805 number was not toll-free & that became an argument & at that point I was sick of talking to him cause it was so obvious he was a scammer actually from the moment I answered the phone. I also asked if he was from Windows or Microsoft, why didn't it come up on my caller id?
