All computers have errors. They are recorded by the operating system. They instruct you to go to the log, show you the errors, then offer to SCAN your computer where they get information about you, what websites you visit, what cookies are on your computer, etc.
Stay away from these guys...
They have several numbers. Tonight was 202-202-1234.
They got my phone number from my personal as well as my business websites.
Be careful. Let your computer or router or whatever send out error messages. It probably isn't, but even if you think it might be, then hire a professional...
I keep getting phone calls from these people too, the number was 202-202-1234. The man on the phone said he was with computer associates as well, and he had a heavy indian accent. He said my computer was sending out notices that it was infected, the first time I talked to one of these people they said it was with Microsoft, then again today only this time Computer Associates. I never optin for sending any information to microsoft or anyone else.
I knew when they said that my computer was sending notifications to them that it was a scam, no way will I let them into my computer, I tell them they are full of Sh*t and hang up. They call me again I'm going to tell them if they don't stop calling me I am going to put a trace on my phone and send that information to the feds for prosecution. Maybe that will stop them, either that or I answer the call by saying something like *** ****** police department may I help you. That might work too... idiots think I'm stupid.
I got the same caller from 202.202.1234 with the same pitch. I knew it was a scam b/c the telephone number he called was in NO way connected to any computer. Now he just called again. Pisses me off!!
I got the call too. I just acted like I didn't know what he was talking about and made him explain it over and over, ha ha He kept trying to get me to go to my computer and I kept asking him 'why' he finally got frustrated and hung up! Next time I will just tell him/her I do not have a computer!
Received a call from 202-202-1234 @ 2:18pm 6/20/2012. Have no idea what he was saying, or trying to say. Told him he was unintelligible, after which he hung up.
